Custom Size Products & Non-Standard Dimensions | The Object Center
When a standard size doesn’t fit.
The Object Center is a Chicago 3D printing and design studio for products that need to fit a particular space, object or person. Enter your own measurements on supported products, or ask us to review a custom size when a standard option does not fit.
Products you can size online
Self-Gripping Desk Hook
Size the grip for your tabletop instead of choosing the nearest standard thickness.
Measure:
- Tabletop thickness at the edge where the hook will grip
Include a photo if the edge is rounded, beveled or irregular. Custom load capacity is not verified.
Remote Sleeve Mount
Enter the width and thickness of your remote, including its case, where it enters the sleeve.
Measure:
- Remote body width
- Remote body thickness
The cavity adds 2 mm to width and thickness, or 1 mm per side. Suggested remote sizes are not verified fit tests; curved or tapered bodies may need a fit check.
Screwless Electrical Cover
Enter the wall opening diameter and the outer cover width and height for a solid cover with a recessed back.
Measure:
- Wall opening diameter
- Outer cover width
- Outer cover height
The configurator checks the cover dimensions and minimum overlap. The opening is covered, not cut through; corner radii remain fixed.
A different dimension, shape or part?
If the configurator doesn’t cover what you need, send a brief to the studio. We review the geometry, material, fit and printing process, then confirm the scope, price and timing. A custom request starts a conversation; it does not place an order.
What to send for a useful quote
- The product or part you need, what it does, and what a standard size fails to fit.
- Critical width, height, depth, thickness, hole spacing or opening diameter, with mm or inches clearly marked.
- A sketch or photos showing where each measurement was taken. Include the mating object, case, edge or recess.
- The clearance or tolerance needed: a loose fit, snug fit or another requirement. Tell us which dimensions must not change.
- Material or color preference, quantity, and any deadline, load, heat or outdoor exposure requirements.
- A reference file if available. You can also start with measurements and a sketch; a CAD file is not required for a design inquiry.
Send your requirements to theobjectcenter@outlook.com or call (314) 800-7915.
Can I order a product in a non-standard size?
Yes, supported product pages accept your own measurements within their configurator limits. For a different shape, an unlisted dimension or a size outside those limits, send the studio your requirements for review. Feasibility, scope and price are confirmed before production.
Which products let me enter my dimensions online?
The Self-Gripping Desk Hook accepts tabletop thickness. The Remote Sleeve Mount accepts remote width and thickness. The Screwless Electrical Cover accepts opening diameter and outer cover width and height. Each page validates the entered dimensions.
Should I measure in millimeters or inches?
These three configurators accept millimeters or inches and convert measurements internally. When requesting a custom quote, always state the unit and label the dimensions on your sketch or photos.
Do I need a 3D model or CAD file?
No CAD file is required to begin a custom design inquiry. Send measurements, a sketch or reference photos. If you already have a model, share the file and your requirements; the automated printing estimate currently accepts STL files.
Can you guarantee an exact fit or a printing tolerance?
Fit depends on the shape, material, print process and required clearance. Share the mating dimensions and tolerance you need so the studio can review them. An entered nominal dimension or a suggested preset is not a guarantee of final fit; a prototype or fit check may be needed.
How much does a custom size cost?
Supported products show configured prices or a quote request on their product pages. Options can change the price. Other dimension changes and custom design work are quoted after review; confirm the final price and timing with the studio.
